This facial was a complete TREAT!

I recently had a facial at Treat, located downtown. Treat is not your traditional day spa; it's a great boutique shop filled with the best skincare and make-up lines in the industry. If you are walking by, you'll most likely peer in the window and notice all of these ... well, wonderful treats for face and body and you can't help but browse ... and most likely buy a treat for yourself. I can resist buying, but I have a weakness for lip gloss and my latest favorite find there is the Lucy B organic lemon lip balm!

Treat's facial room is almost a best kept secret; but it is there, private and cozy in the back. Afterall, how could Treat not offer facials -- they offer the most wonderful skincare lines and to showcase them through facials is perfect. I like the feel of this little shop, they carry my favorite lines, many of which can only be found at Treat. Jamie, the owner, has done an amazing job bringing in lines such as Sharon Bolton Scents, Ole Henriksen and Arcona just to name a few.

So rather than relax with a foot scrub and then get a facial, Treat is more about shopping for the perfect gift for you or a friend and then getting a great facial. Kristina Allen was my esthetician and I loved her movements for the cleanse and the massage (I could tell she had additional training in technique as she wasn't doing just traditional movements.) She used Arcona products for my facial, which I really liked because it's one of my fave lines, but I have never gotten an Arcona specific facial. (Note to book a trip: Arcona has a spa in Santa Monica that looks divine!)

I liked the comfort of the facial room as well (I can't help but noticed these things!). The room felt cozy and fresh. I loved the scents and aromas of the products used in the facial. Kristina used White tea purifying cleanser, Cranberry Gommage to exfoliate, Kiwi clarifying peel and Eye Dew around my eyes. The scents were clean and fresh and the results of the facial left my skin feeling more hydrated with a dewey look. I have to say, this was my favorite facial this month! Treat is also a new Spa Defined member, so check out the photo tour and you'll see why I love it!

Lastly, Treat is located in one of my favorite little nooks in Santa Barbara -- the Arlington Plaza. The little area has so much character and there you will find Carlitos (many times the music of a live musician with a Spanish Guitar fills the air), Diani -- An adorable, high-end clothing boutique, Bella Dolce, Blossom Hair Studio and a Travel Agency. And just across the way is the historical Arlington Theatre.

Now ... go Treat Yourself!

Mini Refresher in Wyoming

Last summer while visiting family in Sheridan Wyoming, I discovered Alchemy Medical Spa (sorry no website) located in the Sheridan Medical Community. I really like the location and set up within the medical building; it provides a comforting and soothing environment. I thought the staff was small-town friendly and very professional and so I decided to schedule an appointment this week while I was there again.

Wyoming weather was cold, windy and dry; I actually didn't mind the change of scenery and seeing a little bit of snow, but my skin wasn't so thrilled. My skin felt extremely dry, flakey and looked dull. (Thank goodness for Aquaphor for my dry lips too!) I scheduled a mini facial refresher with a 40% glycolic peel to assist in rapid exfoliation of the dry skin and healing a minor breakout. Kaycee was my esthetician and she was knowledgeable about many skincare lines; we enjoyed chatting about spa products -- discussing Pevonia, Eminence and mineral make-up lines such as Colorescience and Youngblood. She shared with me that she has tried Nicomide T, a Vitamine B supplement, which helps aid in healing and lessens redness and inflammation caused by acne or rosacea. Kaycee did her training in Laramie Wyoming and like California estheticians, was also required to do 600 hours of training.

I've experienced a little bit of peeling the past couple of days from the glycolic peel, but it is needed to reveal fresher skin. The facial along with drinking a lot of water to keep hydrated in the dry weather was a good regimen to help balance my skin again. Thanks Kaycee for a great facial; now when you come to Santa Barbara, I will treat you to a facial ... or refer you to a local spa!
