I don't mind shaving my legs ... everyday. Even as an esthetician, I don't wax; shaving is quick and easy for me. Other than having my eyebrows waxed and shaped by
Christina at Walter Claudio (she is so great!), I don't fret a lot about hair removal. I would rather treat myself to a facial or massage. My friend Maggie (also an esthetician), however, has extremely sensitive skin and can't shave so quickly and easily.
Over brunch this morning at the beach, we talked about ... well, what you would imagine estheticians to talk about -- skin and hair removal! She is in the process of finding a great medical spa, nurse or doctor to do laser hair removal. As estheticians, we have many insights and contacts, but she is still trying to find the right fit ... and competitive prices. She asked me for my input; I'd heard of new lasers and even suggested she visit my friend
Dr. Jesse Smith, who is a plastic surgeon in Fort Worth TX -- everything is less expensive outside of SB and he has a fantastic practice with many options for skin issues and hair removal. However, laser hair removal requires 5 separate appointments, so finding something local is ideal. I gave her my suggestions for
local medical spas, but Maggie is still searching for the perfect solution ... at a reasonable price.
Any suggestions? ... Remember, Maggie is a skin care expert herself and very particular; she is also on a budget AND she has very, fair skin with dark hair, which makes her a perfect candidate for laser hair removal.
