Ciao!

I have been checking the stats for Spa Defined daily and since I am here in Tuscany now, there have been quite a few visitors on the site from Italy -- cool! I look forward to visiting the spas in the Tuscany region in the next couple of months and I promise to share all of the delightful details with you! I will also post pictures of the spas on my blog! Spa in London Airport

After 10 hours of flight, in the middle seat, from LA to Heathrow Airport in London, I was exausted and felt like a tight ball of muscles. While waiting four hours for my connection to Rome, imagine my pleasant surprise when I saw a sign for a spa! I took a tour of the new Urban Retreat Spa and got a quick fix massage! The spa is small, but very elegant and a quiet retreat from the hustle and bustle of the airport atmosphere. I met Trixy (the massage therapist), Sam, another therapist and Rene, the spa manager, all were very professional and personable. The spa uses Murad and Jurlique two of my favorite skincare brands. The massage, used with Rose Jurlique oil, was so helpful for my aching and stiff body. I have another connection in London in May on my way back home and I hope to relax again at the spa before my long flight. Note...I have pictures...as soon as my lap top is mailed to me from the states, I can load photos from my digital!

Four Seasons Westlake Village Spa

A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of visiting the new Four Seasons Westlake Village Spa. I indulged in the 80 minute Holistic Journey which included a body scrub with a 7 headed vichy shower, concluding with a massage. I made sure to arrive early to use the whirlpool, sauna and steamroom. I also lounged a beautiful area overlooking the outdoor pool and Japanese Pagoda. What I really love about this new spa is that it has an apparent Eastern theme in its decor and on the spa menu offering several Eastern treatments. The view of the mountains from the lounge area is gorgeous and one would never feel like you are just 5 minutes off Highway 101. It is a resort, high end spa, so expect the prices to be higher, but if you need a mini vacation, this certainly will do! It is only about an hour or so from Santa Barbara.

Eyelash Extensions at Cielo

Thanks to Roxanne at Cielo, I can bat my eyelashes on Valentine's Day! Cielo now offers lash extensions! Roxanne uses Novalash, the only lash extension product that is pharmaceutical grade and physician formulated. The process took about 2 hours and Roxanne also tinted my eyelashes. My lash extensions should last about 8 weeks and just look at my lashes in these photos -- I love them!

Bliss Spa in San Luis Obispo!

This review comes from Maria Carbonell-Elliott, owner of Destress Essentials -- Thanks for sharing Maria!

Bliss Body Spa, www.blissbodyspa.com
I’ve always had an infinity for small things – quaint boutiques, smaller sized classrooms, petite moi!, small companies, small gatherings, maybe it’s the personalized feel that resonates with me. Makes me feel NOT invisible. So in my quest for local not over-the-top luxe but quaint-at-half-the-price of Spas in my own town of comes-in-a high-price Santa Barbara, my search took me to wine country San Luis Obispo, about a 1 1/2 hr short getaway from home.

Located in beautiful Downtown SLO (pronounced slow), Bliss Body Spa is housed in a charming adobe building across from the historic Mission SLO. The brief walk to the back of the adobe building took me to a tropical themed paradise courtyard and into the treatment room. As I breathed in the fragrant air of the lavender scented room, I lay on a heated treatment table waiting to get stoned!

Not that kind of stoned but a kind of stone therapy where heated and cooled stones are used to help in the body’s healing process... and by the way the only thing I inhaled was the lingering aromatherapy.

New to getting stoned the therapist with a gentle tone warns me of the hot rocks coming in contact with my body. No unpleasant surprises for this stone virgin! Like a stone veteran she circles the hot stones with 2 hands in beautiful unison around my body. 1 1⁄2 hrs of stone pleasure relieved and dissolved my muscle tension, walking away from a totally relaxing experience. I glistened all day.

After a relaxing massage you can blissfully skip cross the street and visit Mission San Luis Obispo, one of the oldest buildings in the area founded in 1772.

An Amazing Massage in Montecito!

Thanks for the great recommendation—Jacque at Montecito Bodyworks is awesome! I got a 90 minute deep tissue and felt like she not only was relaxing, but really understood how my body worked and which areas needed more work than others. Plus, the little touches like hot towels on your neck and feet are really decadent. Can’t wait for my next massage!
