I am very excited to announce that Spa Defined has added a new category -- Salon Spas! Walter Claudio is Spa Defined's FIRST salon spa member! They are a beautiful addition to SD and I am very pleased to represent them! Check out the photo slide show on Spa Defined and check back soon for my personal review -- I am getting a facial soon! Walter Claudio is an Aveda concept salon and spa, so they use Aveda products, but they are also they only spa in Santa Barbara that uses Ole Henriksen for their facials.

My Date with Drew

I'm in Las Vegas now taking a little vacation (and still hoping to get some spa time in). However, I did see the documentary "My Date with Drew" and love it!!! It's cute, funny and inspiring in a sweet way. Has anyone else seen it? So....if you could have a coffee date, or any date with anyone, who would it be??

Cupping and Acupuncture

After giving 8 facials on Friday in Solvang, I had injured my right arm, neck and shoulder. It hurt so bad that I could even lift a glass of water that night! I called my acupuncturist friend Julia Dubiel! She treated me the next morning with cupping on my back and neck and treated my arm with acupuncture. My arm feels so much better! Thank you Julia! I didn't know if I would be able to give facials next week, but I think I will be just fine thanks to the treatment. Oh...and I will not be giving that many facials again in one day:)

Thank you for your support

Thank you to my member spa clients that are on Spa Defined for your encouraging words and support regarding the closing of the college I worked -- Santa Barbara College of Oriental Medicine. It's been a couple of weeks now since I...and everyone lost their jobs and students were informed they would need to transfer. Being Director of Advertising and Marketing was an amazing opportunity and I loved working with the staff, faculty and students and will miss it very much. Great Holiday Gift!

Skin Essentials will have the Ultra Sonic Cleanser available for purchase just in time for the gift giving season. This spa/facial "tool" is double effective of manual cleansing and it also increases product absorption -- basically you're getting better results from your products because they are penetrating deeper into the skin. This is a useful and thoughtful gift for women, but also is a great gift for men -- they get a smoother shave and for teens who may have problems with breakouts. They sell for $195 and will go fast! Do yourself a favor and get your shopping done early!

I got spoiled at Skin Essentials

I recently had a facial by Julie at Skin Essentials in Montecito. Julie's philosophy on skin care is more clinical and results-oriented (instead of pampering), although my skin certainly felt pampered by all of the "bells and whistles." First she used the ultrasonic cleanser to deep cleanse my pores -- I loved the feeling of the brush cleansing my skin! She followed up with a Silk Peel using a diamond tip infusing hyaluronic acid into the skin. What's so important about hyaluronic acid??? It's naturally found in the skin between the elastin and collagen fibers and delivers nutrients to the skin while providing hydration to the skin. I had a breakout on my chin which she treated with Salicylic Acid dermal infusion, then used the ultrasound to further clean my pores and for further healing used an oxygen treatment. Julie finished the treatment with a hydrating mask and serum. Amazing! My skin felt tingly...like it was breathing. The combination therapy really gave my skin a renewed glow and smooth feeling -- lots of healing for my skin! Thanks Julie!
