Lake Austin Spa
I have a confession ... after visiting so many spas in so many wonderful places, my favorite (top 3) is Lake Austin Spa in Austin, Texas (Yes, even compared to Italy spas). Lucky for me I get to visit at least once a year when I visit my brother and sis-in-law!
So why do I love Lake Austin so much? Well, let's start with the obvious -- it was voted #1 Destination Spa by Conde Nast because it is, simply put, a wonderful retreat -- facilities, environment (in the country, on the lake), philosophy, spa cafe and treatment options...I love it for all of these reasons.
But I really enjoy going there because the staff are so Texas-friendly! Sure, spa staff are always going to be nice, but the staff at Lake Austin are sincerely friendly.
Side note: I drove my brother's V8 Dodge Ram truck, complete with a gun rack and a cowboy hat on the dash board, to Lake Austin. If you can picture it, there's little ole' me, driving a massive truck through the gates of Lake Austin Resort...out of place?...well, I am in Texas afterall!
My visit started with a tour with Darlene Fiske who represents the spa -- she is another example of a cool/fun/nice Austin gal! She told me a funny story of how when she traveled to L.A., the only car left to rent was a giant Silverado truck and driving and parking in LA was nothing short of awkward! Okay...now I didn't feel so funny about needing a running start to get into my bro's truck on my way from Lake Austin.
Before my treatment I had a lovely light lunch in the spa cafe; then I browsed in the spa boutique where I met Lucy -- an esthetician herself and assists in the choosing of the skincare products at Lake Austin. Lucy and I instantly bonded and talked spa shop and it just so happened she was leaving for Napa so of course I was eager to give her spa recommendations (Solage and Spa Terra!) Lucy had also just indulged in the treatment that I was about to have and she raved about it, so now I was even more excited!
So my treatment -- the Champagne Body Treatment and Massage ... it was ultimate indulging (110 minutes worth!). My therapist Jesse included a body scrub and massage that was so healing and relaxing -- the scalp massage was to-die-for!! So ... guess what ... sorry to keep you in suspense with more details on my lovely lunch at the spa cafe and also the details of my treatment, but ... you'll have to wait for the write up on Girlfriend Celebrations! I have visited a few spas in the past couple of weeks that are perfect for girlfriend getaways and I can't wait to share the details with you!
I'll give you a heads-up when the details of my visit to Lake Austin are on Girlfriend Celebrations. I would like to thank Darlene, Rachel (waitress), Lucy (esthetician/spa boutique), Danielle (spa attendant), and Jesse (massage therapist) for a wonderful day at Lake Austin!
P.S. if you would like to read my review of Lake Austin from 3 years ago, it is on Spas of America.
